The artwork “MAAT Lisboa, photography on glass” by our represented artist wins the second prize!

Last Tuesday, May 14th, the ENAIRE Foundation held the XVII edition of its Photography Awards. "MAAT Lisboa, fotografía sobre cristal", a work by our represented artist Patrick Grijalvo, was one of the winners.

The Foundation is a cultural institution under the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility that organizes a full program of activities each year focused on art and aeronautical culture. It stands out as one of the institutions that is currently giving greater support to photography, with the annual awarding of prizes - which have become a reference for professional photographers - and the organization of exhibitions.

Margarita Asuar, director of the Fundación ENAIRE, explained that this year "the decision to select the winning works was based on the criteria of technique, originality and artistic and thematic relevance".

Grijalvo's work undoubtedly has these attributes. With his photographs, the artist successfully " reinforces the autonomy of his images, weakening their link with the real referent –without losing it– and justifying their condition as objects" (Jaime Cuenca).

On this occasion, the Jury decided to award the second prize ex aequo, to Grijalvo and Beatriz Ruibal, given the quality and narrative line of both photographs "after a long deliberation and considering that both deserved the prize," explained Ángeles Imaña as secretary of the jury.

The winning works, the finalists and the special mention of PHotoESPAÑA will be part of the collective exhibition that Fundación ENAIRE will inaugurate on May 29th at the Royal Botanical Garden, which will be open to the public until August 31st, and there will be a special prize for the public who will make the selection through likes accessed from a QRNavilens and in the social networks of Fundación ENAIRE during the collective exhibition of the selected works.

In addition, a digital catalogue of the Photography Awards will be published online by Fundación ENAIRE in the next few days.
