The Happy Islands / Las Islas Felices
18/01/2024 - 02/03/2024
Riccardo Nannini
In “The Happy Islands”, Riccardo Nannini continues the direction traced in previous works. In this series of new paintings he returns to the theme of the individual and continues his exploration; this time, literally isolating his characters, either in small groups or singularly, and placing them in an idyllic-looking scenery.
Just like Robinsons passed through his filter of the absurd, Nannini introduces us to characters who navigate their path of transformation: from sailors to castaways and from castaways to islanders. The island represents a starting point, a promise of wealth that will yield its best results depending on the dynamics set in motion.
“The Happy Islands” is thus a reflection on community and individuality, fragmentation, isolation, and integration in a scenographic space that is reduced to the essentials to expose the forms of relationship.
