Clara Adolphs inaugurates the Inner Sactum exhibition

16.04.2024

"The world and society can change, but the human condition no"

18ª Edición de la Adelaide Biennale de Arte Australiano

From Victor Lope Gallery we are delighted to celebrate the participation of our represented artist Clara Adolphs, who not only participates with a selection of works, but is one of the voices that explains the exhibition project "Inner Sactum". The artist together with Hugo Michelle Gallery has chosen scenes of groups of people in natural spaces, solitary figures and clouds. Adolphs considers these prefabricated scenes to have a universal appeal, which she describes as "a collective memory bank".

The Adelaide Biennale of Australian Art: Inner Sanctum offers an encounter with artists and poets. The Biennale unfolds through exhibitions, performances and talks that explore our engagement with the world and each other. The idea of an inner sanctum illustrates the private or sacred spaces we create and the faculty of imagination that allows us to see culture and society differently. Curated by José Da Silva, the Adelaide Biennale 2024 offers a reflective and hopeful snapshot of contemporary Australia. It offers a setting in which art and poetry enliven the social imagination and help us understand the complexities of the human experience. Featuring in addition to artist Clara Adolphs, James Barth, Christopher Bassi, Seth Birchall, Kaye Brown, Jacobus Capone, George Cooley, Ali Cobby Eckermann, Lawrence English, Ruha Fifita, Teelah George, Paul Knight, Kate Llewellyn x Adelaide Chamber Singers, Jessica Loughlin, Peter Maloney, Jazz Money, Lillian O'Neil, Nik Pantazopoulos, Khaled Sabsabi, Marikit Santiago, Vivienne Shark LeWitt, Tina Stefanou, Heather B.
