More about the artist
Pure urban muscle inspired by the stroke and strength of figures such as Egon Schiele and Bacon, Chamo San uses drawing to explore the interdependence and emotional tension of the individuals he portrays. The frozen poses and visceral expressions of his characters transport us to a space in which the connection is so intense that it is almost uncomfortable, generating a tension that seems about to explode.
With a bold style and a mastery of drawing that leaves its mark, Chamo San transforms each scene into a choreography of contained emotions. Each work is a journey into the psyche of his characters, a raw and unfiltered look that challenges the viewer to explore the limits of empathy and to face the intensity of an intimacy that, at times, borders on the disturbing.
