Exhibition on the occasion of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend: 17.09.20 – 31.10.20

Propaganda is a new series of drawings, through which I intend to analyze the use of propaganda as a political tool throughout history and the fundamental role that art has played in this process.

Given the almost unbreachable breadth of the subject in question, it is inevitable that this analysis offers a partial and biased view of it. My intention with these works is not, therefore, to carry out an academic and detailed study of the relationship between art and propaganda, but to encourage the viewer to reflect on the nature of power and its representation.

To this end, I have used a selection of images of works of art and press photographs spanning a period of 25 centuries, from the 5th century B.C. to the present day. All these images are grouped around the concept of propaganda, understood as a form of representation that aims to influence the attitude of a social group, presenting only one side or aspect of an argument.

These images offer a non-linear journey through history and of course respond to a personal, partial and intentional selection. My intention with these works is none other than to reflect on the role of art in our society and to highlight something that is not new: the political and social dimension of art and its inevitable influence on the development and narration of history.
