GERARD CASTELLVÍ, NEW REPRESENTED

A oneiric journey with Gerard Castellví

We are pleased to present Gerard Castellví, our new represented artist. Castellví trained in Fine Arts in Barcelona and Florence, is a professor at the Academy of Art in Barcelona and has been a finalist several times in the acclaimed ‘Figurativas’ competition. His work, the series ‘A dialogue with me’, represents the close and subtle relationship between the human figure and nature. Japan, the United Kingdom and Italy have witnessed the landscapes created by Gerard Castellví and his work is part of collections such as MEAM and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi.
Castellví's world draws influence from real and dreamlike landscapes, all of which are full of unique nuances and textures. The land and hills created by Castellví are often deserted and at other times, the human being is present. The looseness and expressiveness of his brushstrokes lead us to reflect on the individual, plural and infinitely human conscience that the series ‘A dialogue with me’ manifests. The journey that Castellví begins alone travels through different spaces and experiences. The conversation between the pieces and the spectator begins and ends in solitude. But despite this, in a way the author allows us to keep him company by letting us be part of the dialogue between art and him.

“Walking in solitude is an act of love with oneself.

Walking alone is a form of meditation.

Walking in solitude is observation of oneself.

Walking in solitude is like painting.”  — Javier Ruiz
